Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission "Saving the World's Water Towers"

Mountains cover 24% of the Earth’s land surface and are the world’s water towers, supplying 60% of global annual freshwater flows [1].

2 billion people depend on mountain waters to live [2].

The rapidly accelerating loss of the world’s glaciers is a visible global zero water day [3].

The Zero Water Day Partnership is a global community which learns and acts together  through the 5 areas of critical importance to humanity and the planet; people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership [4 ].

Its work is grounded in Earth systems science to safeguard planetary health boundaries and protect the integrity of the Earth’s systems  [5].

Our Vision "Our Health is the Planet's Health is My Health""

Our vision “Our Health is the Planet’s Health is My Health” is achieved through the Water Partnership Ambassadors Education Programme in schools to implement the  FAO Children’s Call to Action to Protect Mountain Areas from the impact of Climate Change, in communities for our Water Walks, and the decade of Ice to Ice Expeditions in support of the UN Action for Cryospheric Sciences (2025–2034).    Â
