A major report < The Planetary Health Check 2025 > has described the breaching of the 7th planetary health boundary; ocean acidification. This means that 7 of Earth’s life-supporting systems risk crossing critical thresholds, which will have consequences for the lives and livelihoods for ecosystems, people and communities.
Planetary boundaries describe the safe operating space for humanity and the planet. read more information from Stockholm Resilience Centre. Climate “tipping points” are critical, large-scale components of the Earth system.

One of the key objectives of ZWDP Ice to Ice Expeditions will be to raise awareness on how prosperity will gains will need to be considered in relation to their full cost to the Earth’s natural systems and not only related to the degradation of the environment (from hazardous chemicals), supply chain activities (material sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution) and ineffective waste management and disposal.
